This and the next seven photos covers the rough lathe work, and a bit of band sawing, as a washer of the split variety is made in order to be installed without taking a wheel from the axle. We don't even want to think of this! To make a long story short, the washers will be rough turned, split, soldered together again, finish machined, then broken apart for installation.
