Trimming excess metal from the end of the new arch bar. Even this relatively simple task presented us with problems of how to hold this ungainly thing. This is the only position that the arch bar could be held for sawing. If it were turned end-for-end (this we tried), the arch interfered with the back side of the saw frame. But in THE position, only one inch of steel is being clasped in the vise, which is not enough to prevent the work from shifting mid-cut and trashing an expensive saw blade. Our solution?.......Weld the crop end to a longer piece of junk, and clamp them both in the saw. What was one more bump in the road?
